Gaudi's first big project
Casa Vicens is located in Gràcia a neighborhood in Barcelona, Spain. It was designed by architect Antoni Gaudi, one of my favorite architects & a constant source of inspiration. Casa Vicens was the first time that Gaudí used a Hispano - arabic style as inspiration reflected in colors, shapes & materials used in the house. Its architecture is playful, beautiful, but mostly full of innovative solutions that broke the architectural parameters of the time. Casa Vicens is full of natural details like flowers, natural materials, colors & structures; the interior is filled with different types of decorative elements from floor to ceiling. Gaudí´s modernization of art was influenced by modern art from France (Art Nouveau), the folkloristic art & Catalan traditions. I love all those details in the windows & doors.
